Our Guide to Choosing The Perfect Lawn Mower

Choosing the right mower can seem daunting. We’ve created this easy to use guide to help you choose the perfect lawn mower for your lawn.

What does your lawn look like?

The most logical place to start is to look at your lawn. Different lawns suit different lawn mowers. Is your lawn hilly, large or full of obstacles?

Hilly Lawns

If your yard has lots of hills, pushing a lawn mower up them can be hard work. Self propelled lawn mowers can make the toughest hill easy work.

Yard Size

If you have a large lawn area to mow a wider cut will require fewer runs up and down your yard and can save a lot of time. How can you work out your lawn size?

Obstacles

A mower with a smaller cut is much more manoeuvrable as they are lighter and narrower. A yard with lots of obstacles may suit a mower with a smaller cut.

Think about your power source

Battery , petrol or corded?

There are pros and cons with both of these options. Every year battery technology gets better and better., so if it’s been a while since you have considered it, maybe it’s time to have another look?

The Pros and Cons

Petrol

Consider petrol for large yards greater than 700 m2 (larger than 4 tennis courts in size). Also for long, thick infrequently maintained grassed areas that require a lot of power.

Battery

Consider battery for Smaller yards, less than 700 m2 and well maintained lawns. Battery mowers are certainly capable of maintaining larger rougher areas, you may just need more than one battery or do it in stages while the battery recharges.

Did you know using one litre of petrol will put 559 litres of CO2 into the atmosphere?

It’s no wonder we are rapidly heading to a low carbon future. It’s an interesting fact that using just one or two litres of petrol will create almost 1000 litres of CO2. Getting a battery powered lawn mower is a great way to help the environment.
